First Tanning of the Year

I remember when I was growing up my mom allows let me wear shorts once the temperature reached 50 degrees. I would walk to school in 40 degree weather because my mom knew that the temperature would reach 50 by the time school was out.

When I lived in Iowa I would recall that when it was 50 degrees and think "I was either crazy, My mom was crazy, or I was incredibly warm blooded" 50 degrees in Iowa is still winter coat weather. It's damp and cold and bone chilling.

Well, this week I came to discover that neither my mom nor myself are or were crazy. The past three days the temperature had been between 45 and 55 degrees and I've been wearing shorts and a tank top. In fact I laid out and tanned on all three days. It feels that warm. It's amazing how the high elevation and the dry air make it feel so much warmer. It feels more like 70 than 50 and I'm loving it.

So if you are in Iowa or Missouri or some other overly green, extra damp state - HA! HA! You are all bundled up right now and I'm in shorts and our thermometers read the same!

    But the grass is green. I like green grass, even if I have to wear a jacket.

    Hahaha, enjoy it for us Audrey! We have been having some great weather too and we got a ton of yard work done yesterday to make room for our new deck. Can't wait to be able to sit out on it!

  Absolute trust and complete responsibility.  Those are the words that comes to mind when I think about my third birth.   After 5 years of praying for another baby, 1 miscarriage, 3 chemical pregnancies, stepping into foster care and raising other babies; we wondered when God would answer our prayer. We arrived at the campground where we would be staying outside of Moab and discovered this little sign....ummm... "Mr, Sign-Maker, Dustless is impossible in Moab, please remove your sign." A Melody That Sounds Like a Memory

Have you ever been given a gift that you didn’t even know you needed; however upon receiving it you realized it was exactly what you needed?  I was recently given such a gift.  It was a gift that my soul needed.  A gift that some piece deep inside of me needed, and yet I was completely unaware of that need until it was met.  I was given a song and with that song an amazing memory.  Eric Church in his song “Springsteen” says, “It’s funny how a melody sounds like a memory.” Well I was given one of those melodies and I will forever be grateful. Let me start from the beginning and tell the story of this song and memory.  On August 28 th 2016 I found out I was expecting Baby Ross #2.  It was a Sunday which is a busy day for a Pastor’s family and not the best time to process news like, “Surprise, life is about to get crazier!”  Over the next few days however the excitement and joy of adding another member to our family began to creep in.  We started dreaming, picking out names we like
